  • 1/20/2015 Press Release from No Briarlake Tower: T-Mobile cancels contract for lease of Briarlake 1/20/2015No Briarlake Tower, LLC is pleased to announce that T-Mobile South LLC (“T-Mobile”) has cancelled its contract with the DeKalb County School System to locate a cellphone monopole at Briarlake Elementary School.  The dispute began in 2011 when the DeKalb County School Board voted to approve a contract with T-Mobile to locate cellphone monopoles in several elementary schoolyards, including Briarlake Elementary.  Briarlake Elementary parents and nearby residents incorporated No Briarlake Tower, LLC and hired an attorney.  The legal issue which NBT framed in opposition to the T-Mobile contract was not based on concerns such as whether the monopoles were dangerous due to electromagnetic radiation, collapsing structures, or ice falling from structures, or whether ...

The DeKalb County Board of Education has engaged in a business agreement with T-mobile to put cell towers up on the property of 9 of our community schools. Briarlake Elementary School (3590 Lavista Road, Decatur, GA 30033) is included on this list.  The Briarlake parents, children, and neighbors do not want this tower installed.  We've put too much into this school to share it with strangers servicing a commercial endeavor.  Briarlake Elementary School is a place for learning not making money.
